That way debris won’t clog your pipes. Next, turn the water and electric off to the house.
Drain the water from the pipes by turning on faucet in the kitchen.Remove the shower curtain & rod, shower head, shower handles and tub spout.If you’re keeping the shower head use a rag over the nut to prevent your channel locks from scratching the finish. In today’s tutorial you’ll see three shower handles and how to remove them. I also give you little tip on shower leaks.Tub spouts either have a set screw or they don’t. Loosen set screws then turn the spout counterclockwise. Mine didn’t have a set screw.Now for the fun part of a bathtub demo: the surround. Score all the silicone caulk. Wedge a super bar between the surround and wall using a hammer. Pry the surround loose. You can use a reciprocating saw at the corners to cut the surround and fully pry it loose. I had to pound off plaster and remove drywall that was behind the surround. It wasn’t looking good.Once the surround is removed you can take the tub plumbing apart. I cut the copper pipes with an AutoCut tool and removed the overflow and drain using basic tools.
